Easter 2014

I come from an Italian background, and naturally Easter is a big holiday for us. We always prepare a variety of dishes, but 2014 was an especially abundant year for our table due to the presence of my soon-to-be in-laws.

Top and Right: Lard Bread w/ Hardboiled Eggs, Left: Sweet Bread

Mozzarella Croquettes and Fried Asparagus

Manicotti

This is my contribution every Easter. Everything (i.e. the sauce, cheese filling, and crêpes) is made from scratch.

Cheese Plate
Fresh Mozzarella and Smoked Scamorza

Eggplant Salad

Glazed Ham

Pizza Rustica (Easter Pie) and Deviled Eggs

Easter Pie is one of my favorites - a savory pie filled with ricotta, eggs, and diced cured meats. Typically served cold or at room temperature.

Prosciutto and Cantaloupe

Hors d'Oeuvres
Breads, Cheese, Salami, Roasted Red Peppers, Olives, Artichoke Hearts, Mushrooms

Grilled Lamb Chops w/ Basil and Tomato

Butter Lamb

Before and after decapitation.

Pastiera di Grano (Grain Pie)

You might think it unusual to include grain in a pie, but this classic Italian dessert is actually quite delicious.
